# Sessions On-Demand You can start a session at any time using a saved preset, and even tweak the settings before launching. Click the **“C”** icon in your menu bar and select **“Start a session…”** to open the session window. ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ## Set Your Intent (optional) At the top of the session window, you’ll see a prompt: _“What are you working on?”_ Use this to write a short description of your goal, like: - **“Finish Chapter 7”** - **“Edit client reel”** This helps clarify your focus and gives the session a stronger sense of purpose. The intent will also be recorded in the [[Session Log]]. ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ## Choose a Preset Use the dropdown to select from the [[Creating Presets|presets]] you’ve already created. > [!info] Need to make a quick change to the preset? > Click the info icon ⓘ next to the preset name to edit it directly. Any updates made here will apply to the preset going forward. ## Modify Preset Settings > [!Warning] > Any changes you make here, including adding or removing apps or websites, adjusting the timer, or modifying the cancellation policy, will update the preset and apply to all future sessions. ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ## Edit Your Block/Allow List Your session will use the **allow/block list from your selected preset**. If you want to make a change before starting, click the info icon ⓘ next to the preset name. From here, you can add or remove apps and sites. ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ## Adjust the Timer Click the dropdown to set the session duration. Your session will utilize the [[Choosing a Timer|timer settings]] saved for your [[Creating Presets|presets]]. If you wish to make changes before starting, click the info icon ⓘ beside the preset name. ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ## Allowing a Session to End Early Click the info icon ⓘ next to “Allow me to end this session early” to modify the behavior. By default, **"Allow me to end this session early"** is enabled. However, to increase accountability, simply toggle off the setting. This means the session will only end once completed or if you use a [[Pause, Cancel, and Skip Credits|cancel credit.]] ![[CleanShot 2026-07-16 at [email protected]]] ### Any time (default) If selected, you can end the session from the menu bar at any time during the session. ### If another session is due: Only allows you to end the session early if another scheduled session is due. For example, if your current session is still running at 3:00 PM and a [[Scheduling Sessions|scheduled session]] is set to start at that time, you’ll be allowed to end the active session once that new session becomes eligible to begin. ### By typing a phrase: To end the session early, you're required to type the phrase **“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”** the assigned amount of times.
